So I see a lot of people who swaped the auto for a 5 speed. My reverse just went out in my auto, I can get it fixed for about 500 bux but I love stick shifts. How much do you think a total swap is to a manual and whats involved?
I have heard hanging a clutch is hard and you have to replace the computer???
I wish I could jst find a cheap used auto to stick in it untill I have had a few months on my new job, but cars never break when you have the money to fix them....lol
i live in the nw corner of il and been lookin every where for a manual to swap out my auto. where do you go to get yours. my auto is missing 1st gear i have been taking off in 2nd for 4 month with no problem. i feel if i rather shift a manual than a auto
5-spd all the way, I couldn't imagine what my truck would feel like with an auto--I'd probably sell it. The 3.0 needs revs and a 5-spd is the best way to make the most of that little engine.
I average over 20mpg with my truck. A friend of mine has a 3.0 with an auto and he averages 14-15mpg, quite a dramatic difference.
I guess my truck is a freak; I average 19mpg for my commute, and 22mpg on the highway. While its no F1 car for acceleration, its about the same as our F-150 under normal acceleration to 60mph.
I do agree though, 5 speeds are more fun to drive around in, and lend them selves to a more spirited driving experience.
