Just bought a 93 lifted ford ranger off of a guy on craigslist and it seems to have a bit of a leak. its got a hurst short throw in it. i took it to a shop and the guys there said that it was leaking from the shifter. i have been doing some reading up on replacing the rubber plugs with the doman steel ones, and possibly adding a vent. im wondering how to get to these plugs, and how to reseal a possibly blown seal? from what i have read the hirst shifters are nothing but a problem(as cool as they are) if i put a stock shifter back in it would that fix the problem? Could sombody help out a kid down on his luck? :icon_confused:

Have you considered the possibility that it's leaking from the shifter because someone else already sealed "the plugs" then OVERFILLED the trans?

Believe me being overfilled is the #1 cause for leaks up there.
