ive got a 91 4.0 4x4 auto and the automatic is pretty much shot so i want to do a 5 speed swap and im just trying to figure out what parts i need and what all is involved, so far this is the list of parts i think i need:
transmission
clutch
flywheel
slave and master cylinders
pedals
do i need the computer? i think ive read of people keeping the auto computer.

i have pedals from a 95 will they work?
what transmissions can i use? any ohv 4.0?, is there a difference between 2.9 and 4.0 ones? or will a 2.9 work just as good?
and will my driveshafts work fine or do i need the 5 speed ones too?

Search around here, its a really, really common topic.

The pedals from the 95 will likely not work, its best to get pedals from your generation Ranger. 2.9 and 4.0 share the same bellhousing pattern. Your driveshaft should be fine.

yeah i know ive read about it but of course now that the time is here that i want to do it i cant seem to find anything.
