$5 leveling kit and hi-lift jack question

i went to lowes and got (12) 1-5/8 spacers and put 6 under each bottom bushing on the top of each shock, got almost an inch of lift and leveled the truck out alright. 1984 ranger. maybe that can help some of you...

and i need some ideas on mounts for my hi-lift jack on my flat bed...

take a long bolt, drill holes in flat bed run bolt up from bottom(with head underneath), put nut on tight(might have to use two or washers to space the jack up, get spin on wing nut from lowes, washer between jack and wingnut...voila 3 dolla hi lift mount

on my jeep i just used some 3" exhaust clamps to hold my jack longways on the back roll bars by the tailgate. used wingnuts to hold it on.

that doesn't sound like a good way to lift the front... shocks themselves shouldn't be used to lift, springs are the only way to go

it was only a half inch of spacers, i was skeptical that it would even work, but my buddy needed to stop his stock tires from rubbing and we just used that as a quick fix until we can shave the fenders a little...

I'm thinking he means they put them under neath the coil spring....putting them under the shock would do nothing to lift the truck. Shocks just dampen the ride...no provide lift.

nope, the shock. we are putting some under the coils soon. i know it sounds stupid, but it actually worked.

stock shocks in good condition, we got around an inch of lift. i have after pictures but i didnt get the opportunity to take before pics... i swear on the truck that it provided lift, haha

It doesn't sound stupid....its impossible. Shocks DO NOT provide ride height....only dampen suspension movement. Unless the the shocks are completely bottomed out all the time, its a physical impossibility.

Fail... You did it wrong! I thought you meant you put them under the spring. Unless something is wrong with your shocks this should have lifted the truck. the instructions say under the springs because that is the correct way to do it, not because everyone else was too dumb to think of the idea.....

The shocks do have some "spring" to them and I see how this lifted the truck, but that is increasing the stress on those shocks, and increasing stress on shock mounts. I would never suggest doing this, you're wearing out your shocks faster, and it's not hard to install a coil spring spacer.

+2, Bro!!! Never use washers as spacers!!! Not a good idea. Springs are the safest way to lift that ride!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a washer lift on TTB. Just as safe as a coil lift.

Not BS. If you put new shocks in, you usually gain a little height. If I've seen it once I've seen it a hundred times
