So i picked up an EFI 5.0/E4OD out of a '91 bronco for my '86 Ranger. Its a complete motor with harness and everything, after some research i found that the EEC the guy gave me is from a '94 5.8 bronco. (F4TF-12A650-UA)

Im sure its a long shot but will this EEC for a '94 5.8 work on '91 5.0? Also, if im not mistaken, arent the '94 5.8 broncos a MAF system while the '91 5.0s run speed density? Please help.

You will need to change the cam as the firing order is different for the 5.8, and the truck intake will need to be changed, its too tall even with a body lift...

Wouldn't it be easier to exchange the EEC for the correct one? I think that's what phillips06 is asking.

It would be, but I was answering his question if it'd work. Guess I could have mentioned that, lol....

Wouldn't it be even easier to just rearrange the injector wiring so it's firing them in order with the plugs?

Thats what i was wondering if it worked im willing to give it a shot and see what happens... My only other reservation is if this 5.8 EEC runs a MAF system?? I would need to get the sensor and other required parts. Might just opt for the correct EEC... Then again MAF would be nice IF it works.

If they are batch fire then switching the injector order won't work or matter. It will run but at idle it be a bit rougher but at speed you should be fine.

The easiest, get the correct ecu. What would be easier than than that is to use the 2.9l engine harness, add two injector plugs to the injector harness, use the 5.0 ecu, and you're good to go...

depends...if you have stereo hego no. if its single then its ok.

the 94 5.8 should be speed density, though there are maf units starting then but late iirc, if it is the normal obd setup it should work with your system, though there are changes post 91 on the underhood interfacing.

94 is a bad year because it can be bank or sefi....if its bank you should be ok...the vans were tricky, they could get maf late 92....some of the 93 plus had real gt40 heads as well and the standard roller truck cam started to surface across the 302 and 351....usually with the good calibration computer sytems initially.

so if its a bank pcm with single hego and you have the e40d style harness they should be ok together. there are differecnces in the 4x4 swith and od cancel etc that could kick you in the balls though. so best bet is to get the correct pcm like svt keeps saying for some reason.

the 302 truck intake will fit under the hood of my ranger on a 302 though. but that could be due to many factors outside the norms.

Thanks for the advice guys. at this point im thinking ill opt for the correct ECU. sounds like getting the 5.8 ECU to "maybe" work could be a headache and is a little outside my knowledge of the EFI system. Anyone know a good place to buy/sell Ford ECU's?? lol
