so im have been doing some research and cant find the answer im looking for. i have a 96 2wd and want to do a 5/6 drop. my ? is what size tire do i use. im want to run 17's or 18's, im running 16's right now and would like to use them for winter wheels. thanks in adance

I agree with Zman on the rim size, but be aware of the rim width also. I have 17 inch Cobras on my Ranger and I needed 315/35/17 Tires to fit them correctly. I only have a 3/4 drop on mine. My rear rims are 11 inches wide and the front 9.

I can't run the stock size tires on the front of my 5/6 (that has probably sagged a little more over the years). It depends on what your stock size tires were. I'm currently STILL searching for my ultimate rim/tire combo. My measuring and experience with different size tires has led me to this:

My OEM tires were 225/70/14 at 26.4"

Looking at 245/40/17 for the front at 24.7"
285/60/18 for the rear at 31.5

It seems to be getting harder to find tires over 28" if your running smaller then an 18" rim for street/summer performance. I was thinking about getting new 15"rims and having an old school look to the truck but I can't find a tire for the rear of the truck that is tall enough.
