Hey guys. I bought a 5.5" superrunner lift from SuperLift for my first generation and I just want some info on how to lift it right. I know I have to drill new brackets for my longer arms and swapping my drop brackets for my front axle seems easy enough. But is there anything that I'm missing. This is my everyday driver so I can't afford to screw this up. So if you have any information that could help me please let me know...Thanks guys.

Well, you have to put the drop pitman arm on, drive shaft lengths may be an issue, you may have blocks or a spring swap on the rear to do, longer brake hoses, and bleeding the brakes. All I got this minute.

Ya, I'm currently looking at shocks and brake lines...I have the drop pitman for the lift and I have the 5.5" leafs so I'm ok on that...I just didn't know if there was something else that I needed or if I pretty much had a grasp on lifting it.

Take a look in the Tech Library, in there are the instructions for the Skyjacker install. I read through the instructions several times before I performed my swap using superrunner lift brackets and custom radius arms. Also be sure to account for all hardware that you will need and any extras such as brake lines.

Ya. I know I need Brake line extensions because mine are only good with a 4" lift and it would probably work with a 5.5" but I don't want to take the chance of breaking something when I'm out four wheeling. Does anyone know what the shock specs are for a first generation ranger with a 6" lift? I don't really care about the quality of the shock as long as it works ok.

Wow....thanks...I will definitely take your advice...I have some 1/8" steel that I will use to beef it up....how hard did you wheel it to make it break?

I hit some fairly tough trails here in CO. The one on the Explorer broke before I wheeled it very hard. They really aren't a bad kit, just need some gussets here and there. I've wheeled both pretty hard since I "fixed" them and haven't had any problems since.

5.5" Superlift

I have a Superlift Superrunner lift kit that I'm about to put on. Does anyone have any experience with this lift because I want to know how well it works....So if anyone could help me I would be thankful.

5.5" Superrunner Super Lift...

I just bought a 5.5" Superrunner lift kit through Superlift for my 83 Ranger 4x4. It looks like a good lift kit and I'm going to beef up the drop brackets before I put them on. But I would like to know what people think of it. So if anyone has any experience with this lift kit please let me know what you think because I don't want it breaking when I'm four wheeling. Thanks

ok...thanks. by the way, did you get the longer arms for your kit or no? I heard that the arms like to crack but that could also just be someone's bad experience.

I have the long arms on my Explorer and haven't had any problems with them(yet), and longer arms do make a huge difference.

Ive got 5.5 superlift brackets. Ive wheeled pretty hard on it and have yet to break the pass drop bracket. (i check it after every outing) I know a guy who said he broke his with strictly in town use on a extended cab ranger. I used skyjacker coils up front as they are a bit softer. Ive also seen broken extended rad arms but those would be easy to beef up as well.
I also got the superlift steering set up used for about 1/4 the price of new. best money ever spent.

Ok...I welded gussets for my drop brackets and used 1/4" steel instead of 1/8" just to be safe. The brake-lines look like they might work because they are for a 4" lift I think so I'll just use limiting straps.

Now (and I know that everyone probably asks this question) will my driveshaft be ok? I have a single cab short bed so it is a single driveshaft with slipyoke...I just don't want it to come out when I'm driving because I don't want to die just yet haha. if I extend it, can I just extend the section with the female end that is connected to my rear diff? or can I extend the male end near the splines? Because I don't want to pay 200 to get my driveshaft extended.( I only paid 150 for my lift).....

I have an upgraded driveshaft from an extended cab ranger that I will fab if I have to....but I would like to use my stock one....

Anyways...if anyone could help me out I would be greatful....(sorry about asking so many questions)

I replaced my rear driveshaft for a single piece 98 FX4 shaft at the same time that I put the lift on in case there was any vibration. There is info in the tech library on how to do that. Front shaft should bolt up no problem.

there is also a write up on two peice brake lines. I used them and they are plenty long for a 6" lift.
