I bought an Edelbrock performer intake and i find out its for a car only not the bronco 5.0 that I have in my ranger ... does anyone know the difference between them ...

The two big differences that I know of for the 5.0s are the oil pan and the intakes. The car's had the dual sump oil pans with two drain plugs. The trucks had taller upper intakes that don't let the hood close if you try to put them in a car.

I vaguely remember something about the block being turned around from the car to the truck, but I think that was bad info because both had the dis up front. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. Doesn't mean there isn't one though.

I would imagine it should fit long as its a 5.0 intake..

EDIT: only thing i can think of that would be different is EGR if the intake supports it and if you still have it on your motor.

I talked to Edelbrock on the phone and they said that there was a difference and that it wouldn't work .. but didn't have a reason as to why ...

it will, you will just need a new intake hose and possibly fuel rails from the car, this is assuming the one you bought is an upper and lower intake

Just a guess...Different runner size/shape?

Richard

I was thinking this over, and I think I know why they said it won't work. The Bronco has a double throttle body and air enters at the front of the intake instead of the side. I doubt there's enough room for all of that shiz under the hood of a Ranger anyway. How do you have it set up right now? That manifold will bolt up and you can use a Mustang/T-Bird/Cougar/Explorer 5.0 throttle body.

This Is what im trying to put on ... its not an option to put mustang intake ... I bought some '91 mustang heads that I was thinking might solve the problem they were only 40.00 so Im not out much

is it an sas truck? do you have a 3 in body lift?

its a good torque intake for a 4x4.

the car intake is easier to use, but you will have to modify your truck harness to work with the car intake(or just get a car intake/pcm) as the throttle body ect are located in a different location, and will want car fuel rails as well if you are using the truck harness and rails.

a straight axle truck will allow a x member that can let the engine down a bit more so that truck system will fit nicely.

the engine is already in the truck and running ... I just want to upgrade the intake ... :icon_cheers::icon_cheers:

Is it (your motor in the truck) a dual or single throttle body?

That intake in the pic isn't for a Mustang, nor will it fit a Mustang because it will hit the hood. It is much taller than the factory. Mine is one inch taller and it rubs the fiberglass sound deadner. That intake is an F-150/Bronco intake.
