I just recently installed a 1997 explorer 5.0 into my 1995 ranger. everything is in and done except I can not figure out my engine coolant guage and oil pressure guage. Neither of them work. I have looked through many threads on here and other forums and can not find the answer. I also have the wiring diagrams for both trucks and yet still cant figure this out. please help me if you can or guide me in the right direction.

I just did the same swap..but into a 1996 Ranger and all my gauges work...Are you getting any oil pressure??

Dash temp gauge (R/W) is pin 33 (EDIT: PIN 16, see below) on the Ranger 42-pin connector, Oil Pressure (DG/W) is pin 26.

I am about 99% sure I have oil pressure. I had good oil pressure before I did the swap in the exlporer and It leak out of one of the seals on the oil filter relocater. And if im not gettin oil pressure then my temp guage should still work and the oil guage should show zero

Does anyone have the C115 42 pin connectore pinouts for both trucks?

95 Ranger and 97 Explorer have the same pin locations for those 2 wires at the 42-pin:

Oil pressure 'gauge'
dark green/white
pin 26

Coolant temp gauge
red/white
pin 16

take the 2 sending units out of the unused engine & put em in the good engine.....

Once again, Bob is correct. I made my swap diagrams based in part on the Harwood swap manual, and EVTMs. Pin 3 is actually circuit 463 (I think, EVTM is in my car, just read it) which is for the trans functions on an auto, and a ground for my manual, goes to the GEM module in the dash.
I was perplexed as to why my dash temp gauge works... Then I realized, it's one of two circuits (temp and pressure) that I did not cut or splice, I simply stripped the Ranger engine harness around them, and left those two sensors attached to the 42pin the whole time.

Always double check what anyone tells you, I guess!
