Check eBay. I paid $325 for mine shipped to my door and it doesn't even have 120k miles on it.

It looked big to me because of the plate you hade over the factory hole I wasn't factoring that into consideration when I posted egg on my face lol. I found one around hear m5od that is out of a 4.2 f150 not sure about the bell housing being rite any info on that and for the t5 what did you do for the hydro line and the cross member

The bolt pattern for the 4.2 and the 302 are exactly the same. Also, as a helpful tip, the '97 and '98 had the VSS in the tranny, while the '99+ had it at the rear axle.

That's great when you did your m5od did you have to cut the drive shaft mine is the one piece alum as it is I'm kinds hopeing not to have to cut it I'm doing this as cheep as I can as fast as I can my 4.0 is about to blow

Also any chance that I could use my 4.0 clutch it's new with under 5000 miles on it

The driveshaft requires no cutting. The R1 and R2 are the same length.

And no go on the clutch, but it would make a nice selling feature for the old tranny.

That's good now on the starter studs of things the f150 uses a stater that the siloniod < not sure how to to spell that but I know it's mounted to the fender but the rangers it was made in the starter do I needed to wire it like the 150 or just use one of some thing else

The solenoid? I don't know... it may be different for the PATS trucks...

I wonder if the starter would be the same from the expo to the m5odr2 I could always change the head on the starter I will be sure to post about that when I figure it out

You can't swap in the starter directly from the automatic Explorer. You need a manual starter like the one in a 96 5.0 F150 manual truck or equivalent. It will fit the Ex 5.0/R2 combo by using a matching starter index plate, 164T 302 flywheel and 11" clutch that will interchange with the same 96-style F150.

If the starter that you choose requires a remote solenoid, it is not difficult to add one.

Found a m5odr2 today out of a 4.9 f150 125 bucks if I pull it that's starter flywheel and clutch can I use the fly wheel and all for the f150 or do I need to keep looking for a 5.0 one and clutch

Definitely can't use the 6 cylinder flywheel. I don't know how that affects the choices for the rest of the parts.
