I'd guess it would be from a 5.0L equipped explorer.

Yep. I bought a wrecked '96 Explorer AWD. Not too bad of a swap. You still have to figure out some wiring and how a couple of circuits work, what to do for fuel supply and such though. I think my Ranger swaps were easier as there was more room side to side. No getting tri-ys in this baby! A little over-engineered, IMO. It doesn't seem too bad when you are about done, but it sure seemed like a long time to get there. Could be that I am older now too...

That looks really good. I bet that thing will have awesome power and still get good fuel mileage.

Can you post up some full size images?

Do you have a write up you can do to post in the tech section?

Thanks all. I will post something when I get my page together. I have taken pics along the way. Maybe it will help someone in the future. I have created some basic tech web sites in the past, but was hoping to find something a little nicer to host the information. Hopefully I will have something up in the next week or so.

looks good dood any pointers i have an 02 edge 3.0 want to put in 302 smog doesnt matter even though im in california its a trailered truck HELP!!! haha

Hopefully my site will have something that can help you out. There are some folks that have done Ranger conversions that will have more specific info for your swap though. There are a couple out there that are AMAZINGLY clean and professional looking. I did a lot of reading from folks that have done the swap here.

Awsome ST, very clean swap. You get to drive it yet? What tranny you running?

Hey guys I'm new here but I have a 2001 Sport trac with a blown SOHC 4.0L. Was wondering about putting a 302 from an explorer in it. Any sugggestions the 4.0L used seems to be expensive. And where would I buy a wrecked explorer with a v8?? Help please

You will need a 99-01 ex v8 donor truck. You will also need to grab the abs module/pump on the driver fender. For more detailed info on this swap, check out my build thread. Depending on the build date if your trac, you may have speedo issues. Welcome to TRS :icon_thumby: Where you located?

Obviously, I need to get on the forums more often. I had back/neck surgery some time after completing my ST project, so I took a break from heavy work. Doing much better now though.

I average about 17 mpg which is slightly better than I was doing with the v6. No major problems. I had to replace the heater core and mangled the A/C compressor (long story) but it has been a good truck for me. I am now considering freshening up the 302 and after looking at RangerSVT's thread...who knows.
