I bought a radiator out of a 5.0 Mountaineer today. I just sat the radiator in my 88 Ranger to take a quick look and it is huge. I took measurements and this radiator is 26" wide at the top of the tanks and 25" tall. I know people have had to do a little clearancing of the core support to make the radiator fit but this is going to just barely fit between the frame rails. If someone has used this radiator can you send pictures of what you did to fit it in. I have search the forums and not found very much that seems to help. Thanks.

Not sure about that one, I used one from a 92 explorer 4.0 in my 88. Same size as the one that came out but twice as thick and wood bolt right in. Still had set in to the support for clearance. don"t run hot at all with a 16" pusher fan.

Im assuming thats the same radiator as a 5.0 explorer. Im using the 5.0 explorer rad and its huge. like seriously. With a 3" body lift it goes from the bottom of the frame rails to the top of the radiator support where the hood latch is. i had to notch my frame rails because the radiator was so snug between them; i was afraid that the rails would squeeze the radiator(not good!) the first time i flex the truck out. I also had to grind away all the plastic trim and brackets off the side of the radiator and had to cut away the top and sides of the radiator support to move the radiator far enough forward to suit my tastes. there are some pics in my build thread..
