hey im new to the sight, so hey everyone, you all have helped me out to build a few BA rangers in the past, but here is my first question for yall.

i had an 89 ranger 4x4 2.9 and i put 5.0 injectors in it and it made a huge difference, it was a wheeler so i didn't notice fuel consumption, and now my project is a 96 2wd 2.3l, can i add 5.0 injectors to that to get a lil more power on the street, or is it just going to burn more fuel? and will they even fit? has anyone ever done this before? thanks for all your help and input.

I don't think you are going to see any improvement in power or performance by putting a 5.0 injector on. maybe more fuel consumption, and cramming more fuel into the engine is not the answer. The engine needs to be able to do something with the extra fuel besides burn it off in the catyletic converter. to do that you need to increase the air flow as well as the fuel flow, and the 2.3 is designed to put as much air in as the original factory injectors can supply the fuel.

If you want to add more power, do a search here on a turbo conversion.

Or swap a 5.0 in to make use of those injectors :)

Are the injectors really that different? 2.3l is almost half of 5.0l so just a country boy presumption would say that maybe they are even the same injectors.

When I bought new injectors (rebuilts) they sent the grey tops. I replaced the original red tops with them. What have I noticed? Smoother running... unbelievable throttle response at the low end (touch gas barks tires), fantastic acceleration, and my fuel consumption seems about the same. So I am not complaining.

However your experience may be different. Also I don't have to pass any emissions testing here.

I suppose it could also be just clean flow matched injectors replacing ones that were nearly 20 years in service.

i noticed a huge difference when i put the 5.0 injectors in my 2.9, and eventully i am going to do a swap of some kind, im not to big into turbos, yes i think that they are BA, but i think that the coolest thing in the world is a roots style super charger sticking out of the hood. lol. thanks for the info guys. much appreciated.

You might gain a little by switching to the 17 LB injectors from a 2000 Explorer 5.0, they have the four spray nozzels that give better fuel distrubution. Thought I had a set I'd sell for cheap but can't find them.
