I have a 2000 Ranger with the 4.0 ohv 5 speed. I have been doin a lot of research on the 5.0 Explorer swap. I have found a complete 5.0 engine from a 1999 Explorer. It's from a salvage yard and is in great shape with 82k. Only problem is all the small parts that dont come with it. I also found a 1996 Explorer 5.0 SUPER cheap with a bad motor.
So I know I need the wiring & computer, fuel sytem, pats, ect from a 1999-2001. I'll get all that. But will the 1996 alternator, starter, air conditiong parts, power steering, radiator work with the 1999 motor? What about the transmission and linkage/ wiring and steering column?
I think it will but I'm hoping someone can tell me for sure. Thanks!
