5.0 Alternator Question

I have read that you can use the 4.0 alternator but my V6 Ranger was a roller when I purchased it. That being said there is no 4.0 alternator to use but I have the original 5.0 alternator .
Question is : Can I use the 5.0 Alternator ? I'm guessing Yes but better safe then sorry.

OK Not to sound like a Newbie to this but wtf does "FEAD" mean ?
I asked my buddy that has done a conversion before and he has no idea what I'm talking about. The ranger is a 93 splash with power everything . The 5.0 is a 91 out of a thunderbird converted over to carb.

Also, are you actually asking if you can use a 5.0 alternator on a 5.0?

Yep because I have to buy an alternator . I assumed I could use a 5.0 alternator but was more the less asking which was best. Since the motor didn't come with the alternator I obviously want to buy the best one for the set up. if it is either a 4.0 or 5.0 or certain years.
Also thanks for answering the FEAD questions. Its not going to have a/c but has the bracket on the motor , its going to have power steering ,and it's 2 wd .last of the (V8) T-Birds had the sn95 front accessories . power everything / seats , windows , ect.
I guess I answered my own question about the alternator .

Here's a thought, buy a 91 t-bird 5.0 alternator...

Welp . . . . Maybe I should have went with the 4.0 alternator ($99) lol , this 5.0 alternator for the 91 Tbird is a special order part @187.00 but it does come with a life time warranty .
So I purchased the correct alternator
