I was wondering how I would fix a 4x4 system in my 1994 ford ranger 4x4 4.0 it's a manual transfer case and manual hubs 5spd. I put it in 4x4 hi or low and it goes in but the lights won't turn on I know I don't need them but I would like to have them. Thanks

Look for a connector at the top-front area of the t-case that may be disconnected. That same wiring runs through a multi-pin connector right next to the RH steering column support under the dash that you can also check (light blue wire is for the 4x4 light, brown w/white stripe wire is Low Range... grounding each wire should operate the lights).

Beyond that, you'll need to trace the wiring from underneath up to the lights on the inst. cluster with an ohmmeter looking for any damaged wiring (this is where having a set of factory service manuals is invaluable).

Don't forget to check the bulbs.
