4x4 wont dis-engage

havent been here since i cash for clunkered my old explorer. but on friday, i picked up a very clean 99 ranger xlt stepside. litterally an hour after i bought it. i decided to test out the 4x4. well thats where i messed up. lol.

ever sense i put it in 4x4, it will not come out. ive tried the reverse trick. ive tried it in neutral, park. tried shutting it off. nothing is working.

just for reference. the truck is a 4.0 auto. push button 4wd with automatic hub's. any help would be appreciated.

more than likely the shift moror failed...its common but ive never had it on my 2001. pull it off the back of the transfercase and hand shift the shaft inside to 2wd. its marked so you know where it needs to go then either adjust the shift motor so you can re instal it and leave the wires unhooked or leave the whole motor off til you get a new one
