i never owned a ranger let alone a four wheel drive ,so i lock the hubs in, put tranny in nutral and put the 4wd lever back right ?? well it doesnt go in to 4 wheel drive high i have to pull back then a little over to the left

an if i put in 4 wheel drive low it wont shift acts like its in nutral

also is it common for it to make a slight wihning noise ??

You need to give it some time. About 24 hours is plenty of time for the regulars on the forum (like myself) to see your post and answer it.

It sounds to me like your shifter mechanism is out of adjustment.

If you go under the truck you can will see where the Transfercase shift lever bolts to the transmission. There is a large bolt and a smaller bolt. You need to loosen the smaller bolt and the shifter guide will be able to rotate. Rotate it clockwise a little bit.

At this point it would be helpful for someone to shift the tcase so you can make sure it is properly adjusted.

Good luck!

so i need to get down there loosen the smaller bolt and rotate clockwise, how will i know its adjusted correctly

thanks for your time

There are detents inside the Tcase. Having your helper shift the tcase will tell you exactly where the detents are and you can adjust the guide so that it lines up with the shifter position.

so after i lossen the small bolt and he shitf is letsay from 2ed to 4wdh is should go right into place....sorry i ask so many wuestions this is ALL new to me i never messed with a t-case b4
