4x4 problems again

i have a 1986-92 ranger 2.9 4x4 5 speed.
4x4 crappt out on me a few weeks ago!!
i have changed and tested both the push button and the motor on the transfercase with no success!!
there is power in the clip to the button and its illuminated but no action or even a sound wen presst!!
ive lookt for relays and fuses and vacums but goin crazy!!
i can shift it in 4 wheel manually while the motor is off the transfercase
and it works like a dream, but thats a pain!!
what the heck do i try next!!

Either buy a shiftster off here or put a real transfercase in it. You know, one that you shift with your hand, not a button.

pretty sure theres a relay in the system as well,,find it and test it!

i have a manual shift tranfer in a parts truck but dont want to swap it yet!!
this one workt great up to now!
any idea where id find this relay,

Why not? If you plan on doing the swap eventually, wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to do it earlier? All you have to do is pull the shafts, remove the speedo cable and misc. electrical connections, 5 or 6 retaining bolts and it's out. You're not doing it right if you can't tackle it in a free day. Heck, you dont even need to jack it up! Just make sure to put fresh fluid in the transfer case you install.

o ya not a problem swappn it out!! findin a free day without the wife and kids not so easy!!hahaha!
i guess i was hopen for a quik fix like a relay or fuse!
as it workt so good up to now!
4 feet of snow out here so gona have to do somethin!!
i see gear oil around the front diff now today soo i gotta see wats up there as well!!mite be connected to the problem.
never ends eh!!
