i have a 96 xlt Ranger with the 4.0 Auto, Auto locking hubs aswell. the transfer case is locking into 4low, also locking into 4high, (well according to the lights on the dash) but i can feel it lock in, but still the front tires arnt pulling? i checked all fuses and everything else. anny ideas? thanks.

replace your front hubs with a good set of warn manual hubs

ima trying to get the automatic ones to work, if its something simple. any ideas? how do the automatic hubs work?

there is no rebuild kit to my knowlege for the auto hubs.

let me put it this way. if you would ever get the auto hubs to work and then say you go out some place and you need 4wd to get out or something like that and your hubs take a shit again and you are stuck and would be able to get out if you front tires were pulling too. you will remember me saying about getting manual hubs.

i have been in this situation its nice to know that when you put the truck in 4wd that its going to work not hoping your hubs will lock in. i thought i was in 4wd when i got stuck and found out the front hubs took a shit and i was stuck in a ditch with 3 feet of snow. i would of never ended up in the ditch if my hubs had locked in and 4wd was working correctly. after 3 hours of waiting my cousin finally pulled me and i went right now and ordered manual hubs. cost isnt that much but you always know there in when you hear that click when you turn them. yes its a pain to get out and lock them in but if your back in a trailer and want to go nice and slow in a 5 speed truck its amazing to run 4L in 2wd too

alrighty, you have me convinced lol. what hubs do i buy? and do they swap right on or what? this is my first 4x4 Ranger, i just sold my lifted 2wd.
