4x4 not working, electrial issue

1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 2.9L, A4LD Transmission replaced, shifts great. Went to engage 4x4 and nothing. Has roof mounted switch, lights not lighting up and no "click click" from the glove box area. Power not getting to transfer case. Not sure, but I think there is a relay switch up by passenger side fender well that may be an issue if this is in fact a switch for the 4x4. Anyone know about the switch near glove compartment? What is an actuator? Any and all help appreciated! Love our Rangers! Happy 4th!
