Ok lets start,

I've had no 4x4 for awhile now. I have a 92 ranger extended, manual trans, 4.0 ltr. I recently changed out the trans case motor with a rebuilt one because the old one was locked up, Tried the 4wd but got nothing. I ran the diag that 4X4junkie has posted. Had the control module clicking (pulsating voltage on the orange hot wire at the motor, used a test light cause my fluke is at work), the yellow wire was hot but alot dimmer then the orange wire. I changed out the module and the switch (good to have a friend in the used junk biz :). Same result. Module clicks and pulsates voltage on the orange wire. also, I pulled the new motor off and tried it, when the ign is on and press the 4x4 switch, the motor starts to turn then stops and returns to 2H when the juice pulses. I get no lights at all on the switch, either one, the old original one or the one I got from my buddy. I did check the trans case and can manually switch to 4H and 4L. So its not there. Checked the fuses which are both good. I'm sure its in the wiring but need to bring my multimeter home to test continuity. Just wondering if anyone esle has had this issue and what they did to fix it. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a tough one. If it is not the wiring maybe the rebuilt motor is bad??

if you changed out the control module and still getting the same result it is most likely a wiring problem like your thinking or the motor is malfunctioning in some way!!!! i just recently rebuilt my 4wd! i had my old transfer case blow in half driving down the highway somehow and had to get some parts from the junk yards and salvage what i had talk about a mess!!! you might could use some parts off a b2 cuz they bout the same as a ranger of that yr!!!!!! good luck to ya man!!!!

clean the ground at the case, motor.had a b2 act like that.I cleaned ground 3 times. good luck

I know what I did with far less agrevation than you've experienced...

Toss the E-shifted case and installed a manual T-case
