4x4 engages and stays engaged, but light goes off

I've been having a strange 4x4 issue recently. The 4x4 reliably engages (electric T-case) but the 4x4 light on the dash blinks once when the switch is initially turned from 2wd to 4wd then goes off. As I said 4x4 works, engages and disengages its just that the light on the dash does not stay on, only blinks briefly. Maybe I should just not worry about it because the 4x4 system is currently working fine other than this, or maybe it's indicative of problems to come. Does anyone have an opinion?

Do the 4WD indicators on the dash prove out when starting the vehicle? I've seen 4WD indicators stay on all the time even though to 4WD was engaging and disengaging properly. Could be the 4WD control module. I would run a self test on it.
