I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a 2005 Ranger FX4 Level II. 4WD stopped working a few months ago. 4x4 indicators on dash light up when the truck is started. When I switch to
4WD or 4WD Low, nothing happens. No relay click, not shift motor sound, nothing. I replaced the switch and the 4x4CM, and that seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks, then it started to work intermittently, now it is not working again. I have the Ford repair and wiring manuals, and I followed the diagnostic charts the best I could (there are a lot of references to the $3500 ScanTool.) I am reluctant to bring it to a dealership because they will probably do the same part swapping I did to get me out the door.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim
What's was so wrong with a manual shift lever that engineers felt the need to replace it?
