4x4 5.0 swap with pics!

i wonder if those duff headers would work with a 351

Im gonna say no. The 351 is 3" taller and 2 1/4" wider, so i doubt the header will conform around the block like it does on the 302

i bet i could make them fit but i like how they rap under it and what not maybe a 347 stroker is a better idea than a 351 but then again i can put a 351 out to a 418 hmmm i cant ****ing decide what i want to do ugh

Got the radiator finally situated in place other than maybe adding a support bar underneath it. I'm not crazy about the angle but it seems to be the easiest way to still be able to retain use of the cap.

Ok, everything other than steering got pulled from the engine bay today getting things ready for paint. Going to redo all brakelines while things are apart and id like to upgrade to a better brake booster/master combo to take better advantage of the rear disks and preferably something w/ 3 ports on the master(RF, LF, Rear) so i can eleminate the junction block on my coil tower.. Has anyone done anything similar before and have any suggestions?

Ok, other than the frame and steering, the engine bay is fully painted. Started hanging some stuff back on the firewall. Now while i'm waiting for the engine to get finished up and for more $ to come in, i need to drop the gas tank, bypass the pump, run new lines, and mount the electric one on the frame rail. Working a 24tomorrow so maybe get to that Monday.
Pics of todays progress:

And comparison of AC heaterbox vs. Non-AC heaterbox:

doesnt the ac-heater box clear the valve cover without trimming?

Yeah it clears it but i'm not running AC. So i went with the Non-AC box to make things more visually appealing i guess. that and that things just ungodly huge. (thats what she said.. :icon_rofl:)

An its time to think about hoses and lines; vaccum lines, fuel line, Radiator hoses, heater hoses, Oil lines. I want to run the braided lines but i know nothing about them having no prior experience with them. Is There a reccomended brand ? Method of cutting/installing? Essentially educate me haha :icon_cheers:

I used Aeroquip (http://www.aeroquip.cc/?gclid=CKPT_amstKECFQebnAod6jKaAA) hoses mounting a remote oil cooler on a 911 I used to have. It was really quality stuff, but expensive. I think I cut the hoses with a hacksaw. It frays the braiding, but the fittings that mount onto the hoses have a sleeve that goes over the braiding to make it look good.

Do you have any pics of the trans crossmember from suicide doors mounted up. I'm doing a sas on my 96 and I'm just having a fit coming up with something that I like and dosen't get in the way.

Looking at the pics it seems the front output would interfer with the crossmember. It almost seems that the drop section should be on the other side, or is that to clear the cat's:icon_confused:

Im honestly not sure which way its supposed to go :icon_rofl: Currently the driveshaft doesnt hit it so it should be ok. We'll see i get around to putting my lift on. If need be, ill just switch it around :icon_thumby:

Well not too much progress other than collecting parts.
Did get the Gas tank dropped though. Cleaned up the frame and straps, neither were rusted so they got scuffed and a couple coats of black. Removed all that remained of the stock fuel lines. Hooked up the new 1/4" line to the RETURN side of the stock pump/sender. Blocked off the FEED side. Cut the nipple off the "flapper valve" on the return side, put a piece of mesh over the inlet and clamped it on with the stock clamp and what remained of the rubber flapper. Went to reinstall the tank when i happend to see the bottom of my Filler neck was cracked :annoyed:
So progress stopped there for the night. Need to get some pop-rivets and replace some that rusted/broke from the skid plate and shield. Also need to decide what to do with the filler neck?? The cracks dont appear to be really deep but i dont want to get it all back together and realize it has a leak. So maybe i can find a cheap replacement or ill just fab something up with some radiator hose or something :icon_confused:

Hopefully this will keep any trash in the tank in the tank. Makes me feel safer either way
