Replaced the 4x4 control module, dash switch, and transfer case motor, none helped at all. Could it be the 4x4 module I bought was junk? It was a JY one I found off Ebay. So was the switch. Transfer case motor is brand new though. Checked all fuses, they are good.

I do get the lights on the dash at startup though, but that's it. Already threw about $200 in this thing, I am nearing my wit's end...

Does the 4x4 light flash on and off and then go out when you push the 4x4 button? This is important.
Regards' HR

Nope, nothing when I turn the switch. No lights, no "clicking".

Have a brand new module on order.

I had a similar problem in my 87. I checked all the wiring one was bare I fixed it and then I still had no low so I found the nss wire and grounded it, not sure if it helps but it took about a weekend to trace all the wires in the dash

I don't know what's wrong.... brand new 4x4 control module came in today and still didn't fix it... I am beyond peeved.

Are there some hidden fuses or relays in the dash, that trigger the "clicking" sound? I am almost on the verge of buying a Shiftster.

Just for the heck of it, if I unhook the battery for about 15-20 minutes then re-hook it will that help?

Put it in neutral crawl under it and take off the electric motor, I used vise grips and a rag and turned the selector to make sure the t case selector wasn't seized and then found the pin that powered the motor and put power to it to make sure the motor wasn't seized

I did some asking around on another Ranger site, and was told my GEM could be bad. Just what I need....
