I'm new to the boards and was looking at buying my first ranger. Its a 1995 4.0 4x4 with a 5 speed manual.
the truck was towed and is in the impound yard. It shows only 48000 miles and the tires and pedals and the body appear that it may be true.
However it doesnt move. If you put it in gear and let the clutch out nothing happens even if you rev it fairly high. There are no funny smells or noises, clutch pedal feels strong, the master cylinder is full and there is no evidence that the slave cylinder is leaking. So I was wondering if it is possible for the transfer case to have gotten stuck in neutral? It has the electronic dial 4x4 selector on the dash. Supposedly according to the tow truck driver the P/O left it in a church parking lot when it broke down on a cross state drive, leading me to think it isnt a slipping clutch.
If anyone could tell me how to determine what is the problem or where too search that would be nice. I have looked around alot but so far havent found anything. I know it could be a can of worms but the price is pretty good.
Thanks
Mark
