4WD help!!!

I have a manual tranny and t-case and here is the issue:

I shift into 4WD and I shift back to 2WD and the 4wd light will not go off. It still stays on after I try to re-engage and disengage the 4wd again. This only happens sometimes and then sometimes after 5 - 10 miles the light goes off..


any ideas?

i have a 2003 ford ranger fx4 lvl II
