i am in the market for a 4wd actuator for a 89 BII. The little red knob you turn to lock in the hubs. I have looked for one before and never found one. I feel sure I am not the only person to have a nephew borrow a vehicle and say "It just came off" I thought about 3d printer or casting one out of metal. I thought I would check here and see if someone has a source for these. I would buy two, the not broken side is faded. thanks in advance

I suspect you'll have to buy the intact hub. I don't think you can get the center "dial" portion separately.

yes, that is why I ask. I can't be the only one in need. If go to the trouble of making my own . I could make a few, makintng the first one would eat up the time. along those lines, t am thinking casting them out of aluminum.

I just grab a few from the local pick a part yards, I wouldn't trust the hub assembly but if you can find one that the free/lock knobs are in good condition take them off, you'll have to remove the little decal that's in the middle of the knob to get to the screw. The only other way around that would be replacing the hubs with new ones, I think Warn or Milemarker makes hubs for the Bronco 2 and Ranger, and I believe they have 1 or 2 versions that the actual knob is metal...I've broken them off before they get brittle over time and they just disintegrate...so when your said they just fell off I'd believe it, had the passenger one come apart on my 88 Bronco 2 a while back, I needed new hubs anyhow so I just used a pair of pliers and locked the hub in and left the hubs locked in the whole winter till I got the replacement hubs.
