4wd / 4x4 not wanting to engage

Hey all.. i tried searching, but the wordsi was typing werent giving me the greatest results...

i read through the troubleshooting tips and i am probably gonna take a gander at it this weekend but i wanted to check here to see if there is a noteable issue...

i have the 4x4 button above the rear view mirror...

when i first got my truck i took it behind the house and while i was driving it around.... i wanted to test the 4x4... i hit the button, i heard the relays clicking and the light came on...

my step dad was in the passenger seat and before i could kick him out of the truck he pressed the 4low button without me being in neutral...

so the whole system diesengaged....

and ever sinse then... if i press the 4x4 button i hear the relays click and such... but theres no light and i even layed under the truck with the engine off and had my wife hit the button... she heard the relays clicking but i didnt hear the motor make any noise

i believe the controller can "see" the motor because i un plugged the motor and the controller wouldnt click until i plugged it back in...

anyone thinking i just need to clean the electric motor out?
