4speed auto non-electric with 302 swap

Need to find out what was the good trans guys were using in the 302 swap that had no computer controled BS that bolted to the 302? (ao4)??

Need to get a new trans cooler line for mine as the old one was bent to hell. 1 is ok. tried a 5/16 brake line thinking it would work... well yes and no. the threads are the same, but the pipe will not tighten up properly in the trans and I know it will leak... need to get a proper line for the cooler.

Can't just go into the parts store and ask for a trans line... they are complete idiots there, what vehicle what this what that... colour even will help.... you know what its like in shops now... better to go in with all the information.

AOD is probably best
AODE needs computer

They were used until 1992/3 in F-series with 302s

There were two types as far as shifter options inside the transmission
P R N O D 1
P R N O D 2 1

O = overdrive
D is 3rd and in that position overdrive will not engage
Have seen P R N D 3 2 1 as well but can't remember if it was for the AOD, lol.

One did not have direct access to 2nd, usually found in trucks, just count the detents when you manually move the shifter on the side of the transmission, if 5 from P then no 2nd access, if 6 then 2nd gear access, this is an internal difference
