I have a 01 ranger with 3.0 4wd i pretty sure it has the 4r55e. it has all forward gears and it has engine braking in 1 but when i put it reverse you can feel it go in and has very little power and just slips but on flat ground it will move but VERY slowly. i replaced the valve body and put in new servo gaskets but still the same problem. my question is, is there anything else i should do short of a rebuild?

did you replace the complete valvebody or gaskets??? you might have a damaged reverse band that is not allowing good application, also there is a reverse servo piston with a green servo gasket that needs to be installedwith the reverse cover.. also make sure the fluid dosent smell burnt. if it smells burnt you need a overhaul or patch repair.

i replaced the valve body and gaskets and also put new o-rings on the reverse sevo with new gaskets, the fluid does not smell or look burnt. i have decided to rebuild the tranny so ill update exactly what it was after the build
