4R44E Work with 4.0?

Does the 4R44E transmission originally ment for a 1996 2.3 4X4 work with a 1993 4.0 Motor originally ment for a A4LD?

im having trouble getting a starter to fit the motor.

any one know what starter/Flexplate combination i would need to get the 4.0 to work with the 4R44E?

Getting a starter to fit is the least of your worries. The 4r44e won't even bolt up to the 4.0. It has a different bellhousing bolt pattern. And its completely electronically controlled. Getting a computer and trying to wire that up would be an electrical nightmare.

Got the damn thing to start and run today lol. bought a starter for a 1993 ford explorer.

i guess the guys that i bought the truck from had all that nightmare hell.
