4R44E to 5spd swap?

Sick of my troublesome transmision and had driving manuals anyways so I figured why not swap. Anyone done this before? Walk throughs and picture specifics to this? Parts list?

I am guess I need:

transmission
shifter
computer
clutch pedal
clutch linkage
clutch slave cylinder


anything anyone want to add to the list as I compile while my 4R44E is slowly declining into a solid mess? I would think that the swap would be cheap and cost effective since these trucks are a dime a dozen...so to speak...hah. After my parts list is compiled I want to go to a pick a part (or 10) and find all the pieces and then make the purchase of a nice 5spd. What 5psd transmissions are direct bolt ins? Any of them to avoid, meaning which is the best year to pull from? ANy suggestions from you fine folks? thanks

why not help the guy, or even find the hundreds of threads for him.


sorry i dont know mych about the swap, your gonna need the flywheel also, and the driveshaft for it as its not the same one.

i believe the drive shaft is the same length
