4r44e not engaging unless revved

and that is just my problem.. It will not engage a forward gear unless its revved to between 3 and 4 grand.. it used to just sit there for a second before it would engage, now its started this. I have searched for this on here and come up empty handed... i would say its a vacuum prob. but far as i know this tranny is electronic right? and fyi, its a 2002 4x4 with the 3.0 and trans still shifts fine once it finally engages, anyways 'preciate any help

Have you ever checked the fluid level? Sounds like its low.

clogged filter
low fluid
wrong fluid type
internal leak
worn pump


I have seen a module set up at my trans shop, it tricks the computer and bumps up the line pressure, but this is only a bandaid. if you let it go on for too long you will wear out your clutches, thus causing slipping and over heating.

thanks for the info guys... its looking to me that it might be the control solenoid after reviewing .... the fluid looks fine, although i guess the filter could still be a possibility, but i did forget to mention that this tranny was rebuilt about a year ago and i'm sure they would've put a new filter in right? anyways i still might try that first because those solenoids are damn expensive, might have to get a couple from the local pullapart and hope one works if it comes down to it.
