hey guys i was just wondering i recently found out that my truck actually has 4.10 limited slip(my dad told me i had 3.73 open dif) any way i was just wondering can you break the limited slip? the reason i ask this is because my truck tends to want to be a one wheel wonder or atleast it acts like it so yeah i was just wondering if you can actually break it so it acts like a open

o and i was wondering if there is anyway to check to see if its actually broken? or test to see if someone switched the gears?

after time the clutches will wear out and need replacing. check your door tag or the tag on the rear axle and be careful, theyre usually covered in grease, dirt, etc.

Well if you have been thinking it was an open diff and it was a l/s. did you add friction modifier at any time if you changed out the gear oil? I can't remember if the modifier makes it so the clutches can slip or make them stick together though...

Trans x posi-trac makes it grab, and the clutchecs to burn out after a while.

well i looked on the the door tag and its an f7 and i looked it up in the tech library and its a 4.10 limited slip and i checked the tag on the pumpkin but no i havent changed the oil but i know your supposed to atleast every 100,000miles and no i havent touched the gears but i did a test and i do have them i just need new friction plates everything is really loose back there so yeah winter fun for me

It is possible to break them but they do wear and require re-shimming occasionally.

ok my truck has 100,000 so i probably will just get new ones or switch them like the tech library thing says i should
