i have a 1992 ranger with the 2.9 and 3.73 gears, i want lots of fender clearance (trimming fenders is out of the question) for the trails i run but i'm not sure what size tires would give me that i was thinkin 30's but would that look funny? i'm already running 29's

i have already decided on a skyjacker lift but have no idea what tires size to run.

if possible does anyone have pictures of 4inch lift and 30's???

thanks
trev

At least 31's, Im running 30's on a 90 BII with explorer suspension (stock ride height) and I clear 30's with ease. With a 4 inch lift, you could do 31's or 32's and be fine with no fender trimming.

i was thinking 31's but i don't wanna have to re gear either at this point so would 31's be ok with 3.73s ?

if you want lots of clearance for wheel travel without trimming, these are what i'm running with only a 2inch body lift:

they're really good in snow, mud (up to about 4-6 inches), and ice. i bought them with the traction enhancers molded in to the tread and they work well, imho. had them for nearly 4 years now and still have 70-75% of the tread remaining, but mine are the E rated version, if that makes a difference. also, with your older and moderately powered ranger, these will be easier to move.
if you get the D rated tires they should be fairly comfortable on the road and not too much for your gears as they are a bit on the skinny side and will create less drag compared to something like 31/10.50x15. lots of write-ups about these tires in the tires thread of the vendors forum.

thanks for the info, i think your right i need to go more narrow to create less drag, my friend has a set of 30x9.50x15r i can get for free so i might try them first and see if i like em when i get my lift installed
