I'm hoping on a 3rd gen. But I don't know how long ago they phased this out, I think I heard that they no longer make them. (4th Gen)

they are still kickin'. My buddy just bought a 2008 with the DOHC 2.3L 5spd. the things they dropped were the super cab option and the 4x4 option (the latter i think was dropped a while ago). The majority of Rangers my dealership is selling is the 3.0L supercab 4x2. hope this helps!

Ever since the beginning of the ranger until now, why wouldn't they make them anymore? Normally a stick comes with the most basic package and that would be a 4cyl engine

I don't remember seeing any standard cabs in Ford dealerships lately...they're all supercabs...some have the 4 but most have the 3.0 engine...

I know you can't buy a 4 cyl 4x4 new in Canada...not sure about the US...but that's what I'd want...

That's what I was referring to, the Supercab 4cyl with the stick. Guess I left that out.

I could never drive a standard cab..

the regular cabs are much bigger than what they used to be - i know my 95 is terribly small but the new 08's i actually have to move the seat up to reach the clutch. And there isn't as much of a demand for the reg. cab 4 cyl so, like my dealership, all we have is the 3.0L supercab 4x2. And the majority is auto too

Yea, but I would be looking for a 3rd gen since my budget is limited. Very limited. So I would need a 3rd gen supercab, not a 4th gen. It's not just the space for me, I need space for my system and some interior storage.

I've found 4-cyl, 5-spd, supercabs from every generation of ranger. You can buy a new one from Ford right now if you please. The truck they never made was a 4-cyl, supercab 4x4.
