4bt swap -- 95 Explorer

Nope... Somethings have changed in my life, so this is on the back burner for now.

I accepted a new job and start in a few weeks... I've got 15 years of accumulated stuff to move out by Dec 9th. (anybody need parts?)
My new job will save me over 10K miles a year, so this may turn into more of a toy then a DD. (think compound boost)
I bought a new quad and that ate up a lot of my spare cash.

What kinda parts you got?

Good point already got a couple questions. 1 when I get the motor anything I should change before I put it in. 2 there is a guy in Ohio i think sells them already with tranny. I realize that it's a 2wd tranny what about just dropping that in with the 7.5 rear as 2wd until i find a 250 with axles and tranny and t case to use. And 3 I realize extra weight means having to modify the suspension should i just run like 2inch lift coils up front to even it out or is there a better route?

1. If its a good running engine... Just the oil.
2. I wouldn't recommend the 7.5 behind anything bigger then a 5hp lawn mower engine. But of you drive like a normal person, they can last a long time.
3. Your guess is as good as mine... My engine isn't in yet and I have a torsion bar suspension. Ask dave how much his truck dropped when he swapped his 4bt in.

I think I am going to compound the 12v I picked up last month. Get that thing done for Carlisle next year! maybe mine will be out of the shop by then haha
Yeah... I don't see either of them happening.

2 OHVs, 2 SOHCs, 2 5r55e, a 2000 explorer with no title, torque monster headers for a 1-3 gen ranger, bolra headers for a OHV, a dozen doors or so, d35, a few d44s, an eb 9", a ranger bed trailer, a '94 cobra, and a ton of other stuff I don't recall... Ask and I'll let you know if I have it.

My wife asked me how many trucks I could build with all my spare parts... I told her "I plead the 5th on the grounds that I may incriminate myself" and walked away.

How much would you like to get for the ranger headers?

I registered just to ask if you are actually going to finish the swap. I mean its been a minute no offense....

Eventually... I have a new job and I don't drive even half the mileage I used to, so plans have changed. This will no longer be a mileage build. I pickup up an Eaton M112 for instant boost (3-4 psi at idle) and still need to choose a turbo for high boost #s. Just hang on... Updates are coming.

I'm too lazy to go back and reread the whole thread, but how much heavier is the bt4 to a 4.0???

and what gear would to run to make it get good mileage on the highway??? with 235/75/15 tires

Drop in an 8.8 with a set of 3.08 or 2.73 gears combined with an overdrive trans and you should be looking at mid 40's mpg...

The 4bt weighs about the same as a 460... 750 lbs.

I'm going to be running 32s w/ 3.08s in the rear and 3.07s up front.

OK, thanks to you both, I'm getting sick of the 2.9 auto in my BII and the 16 to 17 mpg.

Is this thing done yet?

So does this mean if I get my goodies done to mine we go to E-town?! lol

It's only been a minute... so that means you have plenty of time to finish!

Any updates has the swap been completed yet? I'm planning on starting to aquire parts in the next year to do the same swap to my 97 Ranger.

Nope... I've been too busy with work, the kid, riding the new quad, etc.
