4bt or 6bt

i looked into a lift kit for my truck and they said it was a pain to align the front axle. did youhave a hard time?

No it's not a pain. I've done the last several alignments myself with great results. Just gotta make sure all your bushings are good otherwise you end up :temper: Adjust your camber and caster first (I suggest the two piece camber bushings. There's a great article on here about them) then drive back and forth, check camber (I just do it by eye-balling whether the front tires are vertically parallel with the rear). When camber is good set your toe-in so the front tires are horizontally parallel with the rears. I've taken it in to alignments after doing it myself and the guys usually tweak something an insignificant amount so they can charge me $50 without their consciences bothering them. :D

Post Falls / Coeur d'Alene. I go to school at Gonzaga in Spokane though. 45 minute commute. I'd be happpy to show it off. Still in the process of working out little issues here and there with it.

NO WAY! i live down by plummer... except im down by Idaho Falls goin to school right now. so when i get back i'll have to come take a look at it. what did ya end up doin on gears to match it with the 4bt?

Not really anything... :D
Well it has the stock 8.8 and D35 with 3.73's. My top speed is still almost the same, as I added to the governor springs in the pump. Now redline on the cummins is about 4000 vs. the 2100 when my engine was paving roads in its first life. That doubles the fun I can have.

You're more than welcome to check it out when you get back.

Dangerranger--- If this doesn't convince you to do the swap, I don't know what will.

I've been driving the truck for a week now, the thing is an absolute blast to drive and I haven't even turned up the fuel yet. The noise level is not bad at all, vibrations are bearable, and it sounds like a dump truck. I raced my other ranger (4.0 auto) the other day and totally whipped its tail. The cummins climbs hills like nothing else.
I say make sure you got the money for it, then do the swap, you will never look back or regret it.

worked for the company (one of them) that widened the shoulders on 95 from the rest area into Plumber....... Almost took a job driving an earthmover for the 95 Bypass project..... They finish that yet?

Yeah i get back in april. I'll definitely need to come take a look. Gettin tired of the ol 4.0L Its a little to slow for me when i'm driving Semi's at work all day. How much did you have into it anyways?

They are down by Worley now, got done all the way up to there just about. Its slow going though! I saw them almost everyday from the fields working on that frickin hwy. Its ridiculous at how many guys they got working up there. I saw it last in September when i was home, but it was going hot and heavy then.

Dang, well for 8,000 i could buy a dodge first :) then take my time to do the swap, thats my biggest problem. actually having the time to do it.

yea i got the idea for a 6bt cause there is a guy on youtube with a 6bt in a 2wd ranger. and even with a 4bt i think the axle is going to need to be replaced withan hd one and the brakes and fuel tank. and i was thinking that i could just buy an old rusty 12valve cummins for parts and use the motor and trans and transfer case from it.

Was it white ext cab? It's mine.
If it was black regarding cab, he did things differently like lengthening the frame, fenders ect.
