4bt or 6bt

I gotta post up a build thread on here sometime. I'm over on 4BTSWAPS, finishing up my 4BT build on my 93 supercab 4X4 ranger. It's not an easy swap but it's terribly awesome, trust me.
Feel fine to check out what I've done so far and ask questions guys. http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9800
Here's some pics to tease ya: :icon_bounceblue:

vary nice. what did you do for suspension? did you have to cut the oil pan? did you have to get a new drive shaft? what trans ans trasnfer case? and any engine mods?

Suspension is a 4 inch rough country lift with all new springs. 2 inch James Duff body lift.

I had to slightly notch the crossmember plus fab a new sump for the oil pan clearance.

had to notch and then strengthen part of the frame for starter clearance.

I'm using a ZF5 and NP205.

For driveshaft I picked up a stronger single piece rear driveline from a newer year ranger, 03 or so, eliminating the carrier bearing.

No engine mods yet other than a set of marine pistons and a HX35 turbo.

I'm still wrapping it up and hope to be driving around within a week.

There's no emissions in Idaho. :yahoo:
If it ever were an issue though, the engine is a '98 in a '93 rig, so I'm good there. The injector pump just might possibly have been from a paver (off-road) but can easily be tweaked to highway settings. Plus also I just might have chanced upon a certain engine emissions tag from a dodge cummins (on-highway). I have no idea at all where I should put it. Wait- maybe... :icon_idea:

I mighta knowed you wuz an Idaho boy...

You cut the frame flange all the way out for the starter clearance?

Noticed that too....

I know a lot of guys swap a ford 6.0L starter on as they're supposed to be a lot smaller... although never having dealt with them, I can't tell you if thats what he has on there or not....

The top of the c-channel interfered with the starter by about an inch, so I sliced it in front of and behind the starter and bent it up. You can't tell from the pic but I added 1/4 wall 2X3 tubing along the inside of the frame rail to strengthen it. As far as I remember I added about a 3 foot section of it.
In regards to the 6.0 starter it depends on what trans adapter you get. I believe Destroked offers an adapter that uses the 6.0 clutch, flywheel and starter. I'm using an 11 inch ford clutch and starter is from a second gen twelve valve dodge with a custom spacer from fordcummins in Kalispel MT.

Post Falls / Coeur d'Alene. I go to school at Gonzaga in Spokane though. 45 minute commute. I'd be happpy to show it off. Still in the process of working out little issues here and there with it.
