my buddy wants to know if its possible to put a 460 in the bed of his ranger for a rwd sand truck.he wants to install it backwards and use one of those blocks to aim the drive shaft back to the rear axle.anyone know where to get one of those blocks? the used one once on monster garage for the wheely wagon i believe

The transfer blocks are actually out of power boats and not cheep even used.
Anything is posable when you have the time and money.
I would like to see it if it becomes more than a dream.
Good luck.

You are thinking of something like a Klune V drive. I actually had that idea in my head for a while. I was keeping eveything wheel drive so I was going to use a twin stick NP205 and use the front output for the rear driveshaft and the rear output for the front. If he's in a pinch and doesn't want to drop huge coin on something like a V drive that is about the only cheap option.

so are you saying use a transfer case and use the front output to connect to the rear axle.

yes he is planning on running the front of the engine aiming toward the tailgate. he wants me to ask if he can use a 8.0 irs axle or should he just use a solid 9inch?

There are two different ways that I would go about building a mid-engine truck. The first way (heavier and more expensive) would be to mount the engine back wards (like you friend wants to do) with either a 4wd transfer case or the casale v-drive like the boats use (and the wheelstanders do).
The second (and cheaper) way would be to mount the engine, transmission, and a 9" rear end coupled together as one unit on a heavy duty built twin ladder bar setup, and lengthen the front of the bed just long enough (if necessary) to get the tire in the center of the wheel well, mount a big radiator up front with the fuel tank where the engine used to be, this is the way I'd build a mid-engine truck, but I'd drive it on the street.:3gears:
