This is a serious question...it may sound funny but I have a co-worker who asks for a ride occasionally and he's a BIG guy. 400-450 lbs, and I'm wondering if it's safe for my ranger or if I'll roll it or something. It was definitely no problem when I had my powerstroke, but I have a 94 supercab 4.0 4x4 with a class 2 Skyjacker 6 inch lift and 31s (for now). I'm pretty sure this is not the most stable vehicle on the road and I'm seriously wondering if I can safely put a 450 lb passenger in the passenger seat. I'm 200 if that makes a difference.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Just don't take corners at high speeds and stuff. The gas tank is on the driver side so that should even things out somewhat. Even so. I wouldn't worry

Ive had 4 people in my truck with 6+ inches of lift on 33's...if you add up the weight, its something like 750 lbs, plus I have about 100 lbs of tools in my ext. cab. Im sure youd be fine.

Any time you throw the center of gravity off you could roll it easier, but I wouldn't think an extra 200-250 lbs of net weight would make a difference. He alone driving the vehicle? probably a better chance.

So don't let him borrow your truck.

id be worried more about him breaking ur seat than anything

I worked with a guy who would actually charge money for the extra wear and tear on his vehicle, giving people rides home from work.

I'm with cody.

Think about the math here, you are 200 lbs yourself, your fuel is probably another 100 lbs. That is 300 lbs on the driver's side on a fuel tank.

Now you go put your 400 lb co-worker on the other side. When you balance it out that's like putting a 100 lb person in the passenger seat.

You won't be unbalanced, but you will be top-heavy. Take it slow in the corners and you will be fine.

when I had my vette with HUD and g-force meter, I could turn almost a g to the right with just me in it. when I went to the left, I could only do .94 g's. If I put my equal weight buddy in the passenger seat, I could do .97-.98 g's in both direction. so, if you put your buddy in there, you could probably do some mad left hand turns.

tell him to walk home. i'm quite sure he could use the excercise. lol jk:icon_rofl: :icon_rofl::icon_surprised::shok:

haha yeah, but then he'd blow out a knee or a hip and put a guilt trip on me. I think the real trick to getting out of giving rides all the time is to just ride a motorcycle instead :annoyed: Anyway sounds like I'll be okay, thanks for the help everyone

If you cant drive your truck with a 400 pound man in it then maybe its not really a ranger.

Darn....that is a big man. Tell him to lose weight so he can live a longer better life. I can't see how that can do any kind of work with that weight...it would slow him down. What does he do???
