It is apparantly in decent shape just been sitting for a while, but I will see when I tear it apart. GT40 heads, 289 heads seperate, aluminum intake, BRAND NEW water pump, chrome valve covers and the rest I may keep and use on my Capri.

And just to keep you interested...my mom's GT

I want to see your capri.I have six of them lol.

I don't even have one lol...I have an 87 Mustang and I am going to graft a Capri front clip on it. I will call it a Capri hehehe. And the Mustang is in pieces at my storage shed, on a trailer, and at my cottage lol its got a long way to go.

Anyway these are the heads that I may use or sell (great shape) and the block was in great shape too. Cylinder walls are perfect and pistons are perfect.

The GT40 heads need to be rebuild and the intakes (cast 2bbl, aluminum 4 bbl) are in great shape too.

do them heads fit my 2.5?? i bet it would give some more powah:icon_twisted:

I dont mean to burst your bubble but neither set of heads are GT40's. GT40 heads have GT40 cast right in them in between the pushrod holes and they say GT at one corner by the small head bolt holes. They also have three ribs cast into them on the front and back of each head. I thought you should know.

Ditto on the above...The side of the heads where you found the "289" cast into them will also have a part no. that says something like "C5AE" or "E7TE" on those other heads. get the numbers for me and I'll tell you exactly what you have..WTF!? on those motor mounts?.. The previous owner say what this motor was in?

You go under the side of that block where the starter mounts and get me the part no. there And I'll tell you where that engine originally came from too..

You didn't get totally ripped or anything...The complete engine if it isn't destroyed is worth 50.00 I'd say...

And don't sweat getting hard up to spend money on GT40 heads....They aren't that awesome...

Damn. I don't want any of the heads anyway. I was going off what the kid told me. At least you told me so I don't sell them as GT40s.

I already sold the water pump ($25), oil pan ($25), and aluminum intake ($65) so I made back my money and then some already.

I will grab the numbers for you later today. He said it was out of a '78 Mustang, but he was weird.

Alright friend the 302 number D80E which is I understand to be a '78
the 289 number is C60E which is I understand to be a '66
the block number is D8VE-6015-A3A

The motor mounts are earlie to mid. fox/Mustang mounts 79-86. you are right the block is a 78 vintage and the 289 heads are 66.

Yeah seeing as how old the motor is, it might actually be the old early style..
The engine decodes as a 78' Lincoln carline engine...So if theres a chance everything is original with the engine (Mounts/oilpan) I'd say it came out of a Lincoln Versailles.

The 289 heads are from a 66' Fairlane/Torino or somewhere on the midsize carline..
