Alright well ill give some background info on my truck so youll understand what im trying to do.

1992 ext cab ranger
carb 302, C6 auto, fullwidth D44 n 9" with 488 gears, 36's 7" lift.

Well the ministry of transportation is starting to crack down on vehicles around here in ontario, an always checking for e brakes working an everything. Well i did the 4 wheel disk brake swap with the front chev calipers on the 9" rear axle.

Has anyone figured out a way to make a Ebrake set up for that? I really dont wanna switch out the calipers im using as everything is brand new.
I was thinking some sort of a pinion brake on the tcase output maybe not sure just wanted some opinions.

There are options if you have a 205 t-case.

There are companies that make differential mounted parking brakes for the 9" however it WILL get caught if you go offroad any. Do a search and you will instantly see what I mean.

well ive been reading around n the rear disc brake calipers from the 76s caddy Eldorado look identical to size wise to my calipers but they have the mechanical E brake integrated into it. So i might have to look into getting one of those to see if they are the same size n will bolt on to my conversion brackets

I'd be looking into the caddy calipers.

if those don't work, driveshaft brake, or..... you could put a line lock in it... put it on a toggle switch, so you step on the brakes, flip the line lock on, let off the brakes, the line lock holds the rear brakes on... should be good enough to keep the MOT off your ASS... unless they have a requirement that it is a mechanical linkage to the brakes (which, IIRC, is a requirement for new vehicles)

i know that drive by wire systems were illegal in canada for a long time, throttle brakes and steering had to be mechanical linkages, i believe throttle is no longer,. but steering and braking still has to be, which is why it is also known as an e-brake, and why full hydrosteer is illegal

Alright ya im gonna look into the caddy calipers to see if there the same size as what i have. Ive thought about Line locks for it, because all ive been told is you need a secondary brake system to hold the vehicle. Maybe ill have to go to the ministry an ask if a line lock will suffice as an Ebrake

don't ask them if a line lock will count, they will say "no" ask them the specific regulation regarding the e-brake, and read that... if you don't know how to read legal jargon, post it on here, i'll interpret it for you

It has to be a mechanical system, can't use a line lock.

an Electrically controlled "line lock" IS "illegal, but what about a mechanical
system like a "Mico Lock"

a Mico lock is a mechanically actuated equivelent of a "line lock" and
are most often found on the front axle of installed on Recovery towing vehicles.

I've got one sitting here, a single axle system that I'm adding to the front axle of my Ranger, my parking brake works fine, but I want more.

If your kit uses the chevy "metric" caliper (78-87 A or G body), which most of those kits do, the caddy rear E-brake calipers are a direct swap.

From reading through the MOT vehicle inspection book at work, it has to be a secondary, mechanical system that is separate from the hydraulic system.

Well there we go...

Just to make sure though, that's not the bc one is it?

There will most likely be federal and provincial guidelines
