I would like to know if the early 5 speed for the 2.2 Diesel Ranger is the same as the early 2.2 mazda diesel B2000. Long story short. I installed a 82 B2000 diesel into my 84 Ranger and used the Ranger 4 speed. All works great, getting a constant 34+ mpg. I got the Mazda 5 speed in the shed and all the parts to install. But it is about 3" longer and the rear mounting is different, plus would have to shorten the drive shaft. Like to have maybe a factory rear trans mount?? Also the speedo cable is longer on the 5 speed. The cruise control works good now and like to keep it that way.
