I have a auto in my 1987 Bronco2 and it has leaked some trans fluid from the front seal. I put some lucas auto seal in it, and it stopped leaking for around a week. The trans works great. Any ideas other then dropping the trans and replacing the seal? I've heard that the auto's are junk but I'd like to keep it until the money's available. On the lucas bottle it stated that a second bottle may be needed.:icon_confused:

Not positive but I'm assumoing that your auto trans is an A4LD. I have an '85 that blew the front seal twice. Don't just pull it and replace the seal. Take it to a good shop and while it is out rebuild..all soft AND hard replaceable parts...will save you a headache down the road.

If it shifts OK and fluid looks good then I would really be tempted to just pull it and replace the seal and see how long it lasts. It is a good practice to rebuild while you have it apart but these are really light and easy to pull and put back in. The automatic transmissions in these are not the greatest but they will last a while if you take care of them.

Any restriction in the cooling circuit will make the seal leak also by raising back pressure.
