4 low grinding? no engagement at all?

i have a 99 ranger with the 1354e transfer case and i have a problem with there being no 4 low i tore the t-case out of the truck and tore into it but the only thing i found was the little nub on the shift shaft was broke off. I replaces the shift shaft and now it seems worse. All the plastic guides were fine so i dont know what else it can be. Please help have pics from the dissambly if they will help

post the pics, and maybe we can help you. Have you thought about just getting another t case from the salvage yard?
