4 high and 4 low lights flashing

my 4 high and 4 low lights on dash flash 6 times every 2 minutes. Randomly comes and goes over the years. Any idea what it could be?

Hi newbie, welcome... this should probably be posted in the Transfer Cases & Locking Hubs forum, but...

... what that blinking means is that the Transfer Case Shift Motor (which changes you from 2HI to 4HI to 4LO when you throw that switch on your dash) is no longer talking to the 'GEM' computer... if you haven't crawled under there and physically disconnected the wiring harness, then it's most likely that the little round circuit board inside the Shift Motor has corroded into uselessness. It's just hanging low down there, exposed to rain/snow splash, road salt, etc...

You can replace the whole motor-circuit board assembly for approx. $65, depending on whether you have to turn in your old mess for "core" charge. (Beware the Infamous Brown Wire... wiggle/pry that out of the harness-plug.)

BOTTOM LINE: Does your 4WD still work when you throw the switch? My truck is 1 year newer than yours, and the vacuum hoses that lock-in the hubs disintegrated long ago...
