Im in a bind guys. I need to have some feedback from people who run 33s with 4.10s and 4.56s. with a 4.0. Im planning on a gear swap in the near future. This truck is my daily driver and weekend warrior and sees a lot of highway/in town running. My questions are as follows:

1) How is the low end torque, take off? (mine's a dog right now with 3.27s)

2) How is getting up to highway speeds and staying at them? (also what rpm at 65 mph)

3) Gas mileage improve?

4) Whatever else you feel I should know would be grateful.

4.56s for sure with an auto. Everything will be an overall improvement.

I have 4.10 5 speed with 30x9.5. Take off is great. Towing a ranger on a dolly its almost like its not there.

2) How is getting up to highway speeds and staying at them? (also what rpm at 65 mph)

Freeway speeds is not a problem I am some were around 3000 at 70mph
I am ways reaching for another gear on cruse speeds

3) Gas mileage improve?

I am getting 20 freeway staying around 50/55 mph about 17/18 at 75mph

4) Whatever else you feel I should know would be grateful.

I hope it helps even though I don't have 33's.
I have a feeling if I could get 33's in there I would be really happy with 4.10 gearing.
As for off roading not sure there, but I know in low range in 2nd gear you can't stop the truck with brakes.

If your planning to keep the 32" tires the 4.10s will work fine, but if you plan on going bigger in the future, even to the 33s the do you transmission a favour and go with the 4.56s.

On my '94 4.0L Ranger stickshift I have 4.10s and semi-worn 33s that already started out on the small side when new (guessing they're currently about 31.5" or so actual).

It's adequate, but nothing really beyond that. It'll hold 5th going up a mild grade, but much more than that will force a downshift to 4th.

4.56 would be a lot better (a friend of mine has 4.56 & 33s, it's about the perfect combo).

Okay thanks guys...4.56s are about 90% the suggestion Im getting from the net as well..Much appreciated.

yep, 4.56 is the way to go. im running them with 32's and the city is great! highway at around 60 is about 2500 rpm with my 4.0L. in the city i get 18-20MPG. havent done much highway so i wouldnt know MPG there.
